With sub-zero temperatures settling into the region during competition weekend the MBS Fall Classic quickly turned in the MBS "Arctic" Challenge. But riders made the most of it and fun times were had by all. Of course. What do you expect from a bunch of hard-core mountainboarders?
So, with the frigid temps and frozen roads there was no choice but to stay inside and go BOWLING! I think no matter what a bunch of mountainboarders do together it ends up being pretty darn fun! Surprisingly there were some decent bowlers and it was interesting to see your friends and competitors do something other than mountainboard.
SUNDAY: FREESTYLE / SLALOM / LOW HIGH JUMP
Finally.......some riding!
OK....so Sunday was just as cold and wet and did I mention cold and wet? The downhill event in the mountains had to be cancelled due to fear that people would slide off the mountain in their cars. So people headed to the freestyle park and got their jumps on. Of course there was a roaring bonfire that enticed people to hang out. That helped.

The Fall Classic remains as one of the best mountainboard events in the US and although the weather this year was a bit nasty, spirits were high and the riding as usual pushed the limits.
Keep riding everyone and see you next year!
EVENT BACKGROUND
The Fall Classic takes place in the birthplace of mountainboarding, Colorado Springs, CO. Since 1993 MBS Mountainboards has been headquartered here and has been the inspiration for riding boards in the summer. With it’s many trails, tracks and hills Colorado Springs is the perfect area for mountainboarding.
The Fall Classic consists of three completely different event. The rider who does the best in all three events gets crowned "King of the Mountain" in their own class.
#1 - The Pave Slalom where riders need exceptional flatland and carving skills.
#2 - The Freestyle Jam where riders are doing jumps and spins and aerial acrobatics trying to get a high scored based on judges criteria.
#3 - The Mass Downhill which is basically who can get down the hill the fastest.
The MBS Fall Classic is open to riders of all ages and abilities.
Divisions:
Grom 12 and Under - Youth 13-17, Sport 18-35, Masters 35+, Womens, Pro
Each Division must have at least 3 participants or rider will go into the nearest next Division up.
Freestyle Jam at the MBS "Backyard"
The "Backyard" has hosted some of America's most amazing freestyle competitions. Riders of all ages and ability levels compete in their own divisions but every level has some hot riding. Riders get 3 chances at pulling off an amazing trick. While younger riders are trying to do difficult grabs and landing squarley and ride away, pro level riders are trying to do nothing less than multiple spins and inverted tricks. Pro Riders get one extra jump.
In 2007 the MBS “Backyard” gave birth to one of the largest tabletop jumps in the United States and features now include a massive step-up jump, a triple hit table-top jump, a “fun” box, a flat to down rail, a canon rail, several rollers and a smaller table top jump for beginners. You can see 14,000-foot Pikes Peak looking down inthe background giving the park its approval.
High Drive - The Ultimate Downhill Race
The Ultimate Downhill is one of the longest running mountainboard events dating back to the early 90s. Today it’s the same winding, challenging, three-mile long dirt road, the only thing that's changed is the fact that the boards are better and the riders are much faster. The culmination of the day is the Ultimate Downhill, or also called the Mass Downhill. You got it, everyone goes at the same time!
